Age is a strong determining factor, 90% of those diagnosed with colon cancer are 50 years or older. The doctors advise that anyone over the age of 50 needs to be screened with a colonoscopy. This will help the doctors find any polyps, which can be totally harmless, but if they are left in the body, they will eventually develop into cancerous polyps, therefore leading into cancer.

 

Healthy Diet

By eating a healthy diet, you are providing a big colon cancer prevention. The colon, which is a part of the large intestine, is where the waste products in our body end up. There is toxins that are part of this waste, and the longer it sits in our colon, the greater the risk of developing polyps. Tests have also shown that diets high in fat, release dangerous chemicals that may actually cause cancer in the colon. It is crucial that you increase your intake of high fiber foods such as fruits, vegetables and whole grains, and lowering your intake of fatty foods as well as those loaded with sugar.
