colon cancer stages symptoms

Colon cancer?
My father was defecating blood since January. A little, in January 2007, so he went to see a doctor. The doctor told him not detected and gave my father some pills. The bleeding stopped for some time. Now it's August and has been a lot of blood stool for the weekend. So he goes to see a doctor tomorrow. The blood is bright red and I fear that might be diagnosed with colon cancer. Apart from the blood, the only symptom I can find is the small size of your stool. I know it might be some other disease but, obviously, cancer of the colon is the worst. Be that the early stages of colon cancer can be treated easily, but given the situation (occasional bleeding in January compared to, again much in August), if worst cases are diagnosed, at what stage do you think now? This is a real situation, please, no jokes. Thanks
I suppose your father is a senior. I do not know what you mean by "not detected". What? The physical exam or an invasive procedure like a colonoscopy? I can not judge from history that you have presented, but your doctor should have done several tests to rule out colon cancer. Colorectal cancer is one of the things that a doctor dismissed him because of bleeding and the age of his father. Of course, only the doctor will know what I felt on palpation of the abdomen parents, lifestyle (smoking vs. nonsmokers), eating habits, among others. One of the most significant signs of any type of cancer is significant weight loss. Again, Only your doctor can tell if your father had that based on clinical history. Colorectal CA is the worst that can happen, but on the other side of the spectrum, downsizing of stool and blood can also mean that your father is consipated. Might have difficulty with defecation, therefore, injuries to his rectum epithelium. Also a sign of constipation is the small, hard stools. As for the staging of colorectal cancer, depending on the histopathological features tumor, presence of lymph nodes and metastases. Staging is important in the treatment (surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy) for the patient.
